Hey everybody. It's been a while! I was originally thinking that I'd wait to do a full source list for the ongoing series on the so-called "Muslim Nazis" once that's finished, but considering that won't be until well-into 2022 most likely (if not 2023, depending on unforeseen circumstances), and more importantly, considering that the source list continues to grow for the second half of the season, I felt that it would be annoying to just have all the sources dumped on you way after the series was over. Plus there are several books worth reading on this subject that you might want to check out before we move along with the story and before it gets, well, much more complicated.
I'm limiting this source list to the books I've read since I don't have all the studies and academic papers I read for the first five episodes on hand (and there were many along with these books), but these sources should provide anyone who wants to do a deeper dive into this story with enough information to satisfy anyone. In addition, many of these sources will likely come up again in the future episodes of this series, so ultimately I'll probably HAVE to do a big mega list at the end.
Niall Ferguson, The War of the World: Twentieth Century Conflict and the Descent of the West, 2006.
Christopher Ailsby, Hitler's Renegades: Foreign Nationals in Service of the Third Reich, 2004.
Adrian Weale, SS: A New History, 2008.
David Motadel, Islam and Nazi Germany's War, 2014.
Philip Mattar, The Mufti of Jerusalem: Al-Haj Amin Al-Husayni and the Palestinian National Movement, 1992.
Hajj Amin al-Husseini, Ed. Zvi Elpeleg, Through the Eyes of the Mufti: The Essays of Haj Amin, Translated and Annotated, 2009.
Zvi Elpeleg, The Grand Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini: Founder of the Palestinian National Movement, 1993.
Edwin Black, The Farhud: Roots of the Arab-Nazi Alliance in the Holocaust, 2010.
Tom Segev, One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs Under the British Mandate, 2013.
Gilbert Achcar, The Arabs and the Holocaust: The Arab-Israeli War of Narratives, 2010.
Basil Aboul-Enein, Youssef Aboul-Enein, The Secret War for the Middle East: The Influence of Axis and Allied Intelligence Operations During World War II, 2013.
Peter Padfield, Himmler: A Full Scale Biography of One of Hitler's Most Ruthless Executioners, 1990.
Peter Longerich, Heinrich Himmler: A Life, 2012.
This is the main list for the first half of History Impossible's Muslim Nazis series (that I'm only calling "Season 1" for the sake of succinctness in this post). If I've forgotten any, I'll make sure to add them. In the meantime, thank you for sticking with me during this arduous series that's only going to get more arduous as we move on. In the meantime, stay tuned for some more individualized episodes in the months to come before we dive back into this epic series.
